winterdoldrums.jpgWeekly Topic: Dishrag. Dishcloth. Face cloth. I’ve seen folks get all fired up in forums when someone refers to their knit or crochet creation as a dishrag, as that’s somehow offensive to them!

When you’re working on yours, what do you call them? Also, is there a difference between a dishrag and a dishcloth? How bout a facecloth? Are they all really the same thing?

I have always called them “rags” probably because my mother and grandmother called them “rags”.  I call them cloths when I am knitting them.  I do think there is a difference between dishcloths and facecloths.  Facecloths to me should be softer than dishcloths; and dishcloths should be sturdier than a facecloth simply because of there intended use.

So call it a rag or a cloth, it is all the same to me.

I have decided to join the Defeat the Winter Doldrums swap.  It is a dishcloth swap, and since I have not been knitting a lot of them lately I thought it would be nice.  Not sure what I am going to use for a pattern.  I think that I may use 1 of the stitch patterns from my calendar.  Sign-ups open on Jan. 11th.  Now I just need to remember to sign up.

Coffee Swap

I really enjoyed the Knitters Coffee Swap, this is the first one that I participated in, I think I will definitely do another one.  My swap partner swapgoodies.jpgAmy sent some wonderful things. Click on the picture for larger view.  But there are biscotti, cookies, 2 large bags of coffee, and 2 small bags, some dragonfly stitch markers and a yarn ball.  She also sent a mug (not in picture).

Thanks again Amy, I love everything.  Now I just  need to decide on what to make with the yummy yarn.  I am thinking scarf, but not quite sure yet.

After much looking and pattern tring I have finally found a sweater for DD here is the start.I am using TLC Cotton Plus in Hot Pink, I found the patter at freepatterns.com.  I looks as though it will knit up fairly quickly.

pinwheeldishcloth.jpgI can’t even tell you the last time I knit a dishcloth.  I found this pattern while raverly surfing the other day so I though I would give it a run.  I don’t remember the color of the yarn as I seem to have misplaced the band.  But I like the pattern and it goes fast.
